Take-Two Interactive's 2nd Quarter Results - Max Payne 3 Delay Announcement

Take-Two Interactive's 2nd Quarter Results - Max Payne 3 Delay Announcement
Tuesday, 8 June, 2010 at 21:32 PST | Jon | Print News
Rockstar NewswireThree big pieces of information came out of today's investor call with Take-Two Interactive ? Red Dead Redemption is a huge success, the multiplatform release of Episodes From Liberty City has helped turn around the company's 2nd quarter and Max Payne 3 has been delayed until at least the end of the year.

In just 3 weeks, RDR has already sold over 5 million copies, which puts it over a million units ahead of the number that analysts had estimated would be required for Take-Two to break even. Even with the results from this quarter not factoring in the success of RDR, the company still managed to outperform expectations with stronger-than-expected sales from Bioshock 2, Episode from Liberty City and Major League Baseball 2K10. Somewhat buried in this story was another huge number for Take-Two. GTA IV has now hit a total of 17 million units sold worldwide. Definitely a strong indicator of continued success for their biggest brand!

"Our better than expected second quarter results reflect the solid performance of our triple-A titles and continued strength of our catalog business," said Strauss Zelnick, chairman of Take-Two.
Details on the Max Payne 3 delay were not provided. We know that the release won't come until at least the new fiscal year in November, but it was not confirmed if the title could even be pushed all the way into 2011. Other Take-Two titles, L.A. Noire, Civilization V and Mafia II, remain on track for their releases later this year.

Red Dead Redemption Preorder Price Competition

Red Dead Redemption Preorder Price Competition
Thursday, 6 May, 2010 at 20:35 PST | Jon | Print News
Rockstar Newswire
There may not be a new GTA game coming out for a while, but Rockstar fans are definitely gearing up for the upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption later this month. If you're planning to pick up a copy of the game when it's released on the 18th, you may want to check out the pre-order deals from Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy and Walmart. Along with previously announced pre-order bonuses, these retailers are now pushing harder than ever to get your purchase by offering gift cards worth as much as $20. It's certainly worth considering for those of us who can't afford to sink $60 on every game that comes along. So what do you guys think? Which pre-order exclusive / price deal will be getting your vote?

Amazon - Golden Guns Pack + $20 Amazon gift card

Gamestop - Deadly Assassin Outfit / Soundtrack + $10 off a future order

Best Buy - War Horse

Walmart - $20 Walmart egift card
